We will study about add categories in WordPress. Category is used to indicate sections of posts related to your site and group. This group divides the content into different sections. This is a very convenient way to organize posts.

To access the Category section, follow these steps –

Step (1) − Click on the Posts → Categories option in WordPress.

We will study how to create a new post in WordPress. Publish is used to make the post available to all the users wherein every user can view that post. Easy process publishing a new post in WordPress.

Following are the steps to publishing Posts in WordPress.

Step (1) − Click on the Posts → Add New in WordPress.

Two major building blocks in the WordPress environment are installed taxonomies and post types.

• Taxonomy  A grouping of post types, such as categories and tags.
• Post types With post types, WordPress creates a distinction in different content types. For example, by default WordPress has different post types for “posts”, “pages”, “attachments”, etc.

WooCommerce creates a few different posts types and a couple of taxonomies to group those post types.

WOOCOMMERCE TAXONOMIES AND POST TYPES

WooCommerce installs the following post types and taxonomies — the first levels are post types, and the second levels are taxonomies for their top-level post type.

• Product: product
  • Product categories: product_cat
  • Product tags: product_tag
• Product variation: product_variation (these are hidden from the UI)
• Product visibility: product_visibility
• Shop order: shop_order
  • Order statuses: shop_order_status
  • Order refunds: shop_order_refund
• Shop coupon: shop_coupon
• Shop webhook: shop_webhook

The first step in setting up your WooCommerce-powered online store is to install WordPress and the WooCommerce plugin itself. But before doing so, you should check your hosting environment. As a guide, we recommend:

• PHP version 7 or greater
• MySQL version 5.6 or greater OR MariaDB version 10.0 or greater
• WordPress memory limit of 128 MB or greater
• HTTPS support

You should also check WordPress requirements.

• CURL or fsockopen support, used by WooCommerce and by several of our integrations, e.g. for PayPal IPN
• Some of our extensions require SOAP support
• Multibyte String support if you’re running a non-English store.

Check if your server has the items listed above after installing WooCommerce from the System Status page.

We will study how to edit media file in WordPress. You can manage all the information about your media saved in the Media Library.

Following are the steps for editing media in WordPress.

Step (1) − Click Media → Library and click on the name of the media item or edit link.

Step (2) − You will see a list of media files. Select any one image to edit.

Step (3) − You can see the edit media page with some options on the right.

• URL − You can read only one link from the media file.
• Title − Displays the name of the media. The title is often shown in galleries and attachment pages, if the theme or plugins are designed to display it.
• Permalink − Permalink is the URL of the Media file attachment page. There is also a link to view this attachment page.
• Edit image button − This allows you to edit image position, such as counter-clockwise, flip rotate clockwise, scale, crop, walk vertically and horizontally.
• Caption − brief description of the media.
• Alternate Text − Alt Text for the Image, which is used to describe the media. Used for availability.
• Description − Explanation of your media file.
• Delete Permanently − permanently delete your media file.

Step (4) − Once you’ve completed the required field, click the Update button to save the changes made to the image.

We will learn to add comments to WordPress. Adding comments can help your visitor to discuss with you. Comments are approved by the administrator and then posted for further discussion.

Following are the steps to add a comment to your blog post.

Step (1) − Click on the Pages → All Pages in WordPress.

Step (2) −The list of pages created in WordPress will display in the following screen. Select any of the pages in which you want to add a comment. Here, we are going to add a comment to the sample page. Click on the sample page.

Step (3) − To add a comment on this page, click on the screen option in the upper right-hand corner.

Step (4) − The dropdown list of screen options is displayed. Check the discussion and comments box as shown in the screenshot.

Step (5) − Now you can see the discussion and comments box at the bottom of your page/post in WordPress.

In the discussion section, there are two type options –

• Allow Comments − Allows visitors to comment on your blog posts/pages in WordPress.
• Allow trackback and ping-back on this page – Allows visitors to provide ping and trackback.

In the comments section, you can add a comment by clicking on the Add Comment button.

Step (6) − After adding the comment box, click the update button.
